The Yorkshire and Humberside Care Awards are one of the regional schemes that make up the Great British Care Awards, which recognise outstanding achievement in both the home care and care home professions. The finalists will be interviewed by judges this month and the winners will be announced at a ceremony at the National Railway Museum, York. Those successful earn a place at the national finals in London.

In the Dementia Carer category, Jo Wood has been selected based on the excellent levels of support she provides to elderly clients living with dementia at home. She has also played a part in developing the company’s specialist dementia care service in collaboration with a leading dementia charity, the Contented Dementia Trust.

In the Care Newcomer category, Carla Hainsworth has been shortlisted after only 1.5 years with the Carefound Home Care team. In this short period she has not only demonstrated a natural ability to care for elderly people with a range of needs, but she has also managed to complete a Diploma in Health and Social Care through the company’s training scheme.

Oliver Stirk, Director of Carefound Home Care, commented: “To be shortlisted for such prestigious industry awards is a fantastic achievement and the recognition that Jo and Carla have received is well-deserved.”

“We take great pride in delivering the highest quality home care service to our elderly clients and it’s brilliant to see our specialist service, including the support we provide to families experiencing dementia, recognised in this way.”
