According to new figures from Age UK there are 1.2 million older people who feel chronically lonely in England today, and almost all of those feel lonelier at Christmas time. In Harrogate alone, over 7,500 people aged over 65 live alone of whom more than 1,100 often feel lonely.
Carefound Home Care provides highly personalised care services to elderly people in their own homes, including supporting people living with specialist conditions such as dementia or Parkinson’s. Rather than operating under contracts with local authorities, the Company is dedicated to working directly with families and offering a truly personalised service shaped around their specific needs and wellbeing. They place great emphasis on celebrating important times of the year with clients and enjoying mince pies together at Christmas is a great way to do this.
Mrs Collinson, client of Carefound Home Care, said:
“What a lovely surprise it was getting the mince pies for Christmas. I had them with tea this afternoon and they were lovely.”
Alongside delivering gifts to clients, the Company has also taken the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work of its professional carers during 2016 which has included delivering Bettys Christmas Hampers to the entire team.

Lorna Dawber, Home Care Manager at Carefound Home Care, said:
“Companionship and developing strong relationships with our clients and their families is key to our service and it’s always wonderful to celebrate this time of year with them.”
“At the same time, care is all too often portrayed in a negative light with the amazing work of so many being overshadowed by individual instances of poor practice. Celebrating our carers and thanking them for their dedication, compassion and professionalism is hugely important to us.”
“2016 has been a great year for us and our carers are the reason we remain amongst less than 1% of home care providers in England rated “Outstanding” by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the only provider in North Yorkshire. We always seek to offer them the best employment packages in the sector, leading training and professional development and unrivalled levels of support.”
