Carers Week 2015 in North Yorkshire
Friday, 05th June 2015
Carefound Home Care, as one of the leading providers of specialist home care services to elderly people in North Yorkshire, is raising awareness of Carers Week 2015 which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
Over 60% of us will become a carer in our lifetime and as our population ages and people live longer more and more of us will be asked to help support an older, disabled or seriously ill loved one. It is estimated that by 2037 there will be 9 million carers in the UK.
This year Carers Week is about building ‘Carer Friendly Communities’ which support carers to look after others, while recognising that they are individuals with needs of their own.
Oliver Stirk, Director of Carefound Home Care, commented: “We provide local hourly home care and live-in care services to elderly people in North Yorkshire, including supporting families living with specialist conditions such as dementia or Parkinson’s. We therefore see the amazing work that carers do everyday and always support Carers Week to raise awareness of how vital carers are across our communities. We also take great pride in working alongside carers to provide a range of support such as extra input where a carer is struggling, specialist input where a condition such as dementia is involved, or even respite or holiday care to give the carer a break.”
