Cognitive stimulation sessions in Nottinghamshire with Emma Wass

Tuesday, 17th November 2020

Our local team in West Bridgford recently met with Emma Wass who provides cognitive stimulation sessions to older people, specialising in those living with dementia.

At Carefound Home Care an important part of what we do is supporting older people living with dementia to achieve better health and social outcomes at home. We are always on the look out for local professionals that compliment our care and we are delighted to introduce Emma Wass.

Since 2015 Emma has been offering cognitive stimulation sessions to older people, specialising in those living with dementia. This can be done face-to-face, by phone or by virtual methods such as Zoom. Through quality interactions Emma helps clients connect with themselves, others and the world around them. This can improve mood, health and wellbeing, and in turn enrich lives.

Emma says:

“We are all creative and have a need to express how we feel and what we want. My role is to unlock this creativity which gives clients a sense of agency and confidence. I use a person-centred approach, tailoring activities to client interests and capabilities. As one client often tells me – These sessions make me feel alive!”

Sessions with Emma can include the following:

  • Life Story work – a celebration of a client’s life
  • TimeSlips – a storytelling technique which inspires the imagination
  • Use of sensory stimuli
  • Compilation of playlists of favourite tracks
  • Music and singing
