Cupcake day held in Ripon to raise awareness of dementia
Tuesday, 11th July 2017
Morrisons has teamed up with Carefound Home Care to hold a cupcake day in Ripon as part of a national campaign to raise awareness for dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Society encouraged local organisations across the country to unite in the fight against dementia and get involved with National Dementia Cupcake Day by hosting their own cupcake sales in June.
Natalie Davy, Community Champion for Morrisons Ripon and Carol Giblin of Carefound Home Care Harrogate held a dementia awareness stand in the Ripon store and to the delight of customers handed out over one hundred free cupcakes.
The event was a huge success and presented a great opportunity for people to chat about dementia as a condition, how it may have affected their friends or family and what support is available locally.
Due to the kind Morrisons shoppers almost £100 was also raised for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Natalie Davy, Community Champion for Morrisons Ripon said:
“Morrisons would like to say a huge thank you to all the customers who visited the Ripon store and helped to raise funds for National Dementia Cupcake Day. The team at Morrisons hope you enjoyed your cupcakes.”
Carol Giblin, Community & HR Coordinator for Carefound Home Care Harrogate said:
“It is great to team up and work in partnership with local businesses to raise awareness and funds for our local charities. Natalie and I had a wonderful day celebrating National Dementia Cupcake Day.”
