Harrogate Care Professional Wins Bronze Medal at World Karate Championships

Georgia Robson has returned from representing her country at the World Shotokan Karate Championships in Istanbul with a bronze medal.

Georgia Robson spends her working days supporting older people to remain in their own homes in her role with local care provider, Carefound Home Care. In her spare time, you will find her in the gym in Ripon training to take on the world at her beloved sport, Shotokan Karate.

Her dedication paid off this year when she was not only selected to represent World Shotokan Federation (WSF) England at the World Championships in Istanbul, but also ended up on the podium receiving a bronze medal alongside competitors from Romania and Kazakhstan.

Leading up to the event Georgia would commit over 16 hours a week to training in the gym. On balancing this alongside her job of caring for local older people, Georgia said:

“Carefound Home Care have been outstanding in allowing me to keep up my training for the World Championships. They have been able to accommodate my rota to ensure I can train, especially when I was selected to represent WSF England and the amount of training became higher and more demanding. They have been very supportive throughout to help me achieve my best while giving me additional hours where possible to help me fund myself to go to these amazing competitions.”
