Innovative Local Supplier Programme to Give Elderly People Access to Services

A new ‘Preferred Local Supplier’ programme has been launched to give elderly people access to discounted prices on local services and products. The innovative scheme has been set up by Carefound Home Care, a provider of specialist home care and dementia care services, who are developing relationships with local, high quality suppliers to ensure that the elderly people they support can access products and services at the best possible prices. COOK, who offer hand-prepared meals for the freezer in Harrogate and Ilkley, have been signed up as their first ‘preferred supplier’.

Oliver Stirk, Director at Carefound Home Care, commented: “Our new Preferred Local Supplier programme is a list of organisations offering great services or products that we believe could be of benefit to the elderly people we support at home in Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby.

“Our older community often finds it harder to find good local services, especially now that the internet has become such a crucial part of this process. We want to ensure that our clients and their families not only have easy access to services on offer but can also get these at the best possible prices. Organisations that join the programme will need to offer a top quality, locally available product or service and will also need to agree some form of a discount for our clients.”

They offer a great product in the local area and are a perfect example of the kind of organisations we are keen to bring on board. A number of our clients already purchase meals from COOK on a regular basis, and we have agreed that all elderly people we support will receive 10% off purchases going forwards.”

Helen Foggitt, owner of COOK in Harrogate and Ilkey, commented: “We are delighted to become Carefound Home Care’s first preferred supplier. At COOK our founding mantra was to cook using the same ingredients and techniques that you would use at home so everything looks and tastes homemade. Each dish has the name of the chef on it who prepared the meal and because freezing is nature’s way of preserving we don’t add any additives or preservatives to any of our meals. We are very particular about the ingredients that we use, ensuring the highest levels of quality and tractability – for example we can trace all our beef back to the farm, field and even the cow itself. We also have a number of Gluten Free and Dairy Free dishes.”
