Ripon Cathedral Service for People Living with Dementia – 17th September 2016

Wednesday, 14th September 2016

A church service is being held at Ripon Cathedral in North Yorkshire on 17th September 2016 for people living with dementia and those who love them.

Ripon Cathedral recently became ‘dementia friendly’ by ensuring that its staff are trained in understanding dementia and how it affects people living with the condition. It is also joining the Harrogate and Rural District Dementia Action Alliance which is part of a national effort to bring about a society-wide response to dementia. It encourages and supports communities and organisations across England to take practical actions to enable people to live well with dementia and reduce the risk of costly crisis intervention.

The event is open to all and will be followed by refreshments.

Details are as follows:

  • Date: Saturday, 17th September 2016
  • Time: 3pm
  • Location: Ripon Cathedral, Minster Road, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 1QS

Carol Giblin, Community & HR Coordinator at Carefound Home Care which is a local provider of specialist home care and dementia care services, commented:

“We support many families living with dementia in the Ripon and Harrogate area and see every day how important normal activities such as going to church are in maintaining independence and well-being. We fully support Ripon Cathedral’s efforts in becoming dementia friendly and are delighted to help raise awareness of this dementia service.”
