York care provider Carefound Home Care has put on a free event at The Cottage Inn in Haxby on Sunday 24th March from 12pm onwards, with live music from local singer Finley Barrett-Carter.

Entry is free and all donations on the day will go to St Leanord’s Hospice where Finley’s grandad and friend who introduced him to singing were cared for at the end of their lives.

There’ll also be a tombola thanks to prizes donated by local businesses including The Grand Hotel York, Burythorpe House, Oak By Design, York Knights, Hidden Treasures York, DPS Groundworks, Kennedy’s Bar & Restaurant, Il Paradiso, Tykes Restaurant, The Studio 56, Lashify by Vicky Barrett, Beauty by Jade Sweeting, The Hooting Owl Distillery, and Butterfly Treasures.

Talking about the event, Finley commented:

“This fundraiser means a lot to so many people, not just me personally but everybody at St Leornard’s, and we’ve all come together with Carefound Home Care to make it happen.”

“The person who set me off on my singing journey, Mark Payne, passed away at 52 nearly a year ago at St Leonard’s, and that gave me the drive to do this for him and his family (Jo and Killian), and also for those who cared for him before his passing. I lost my grandad Billy there too many years ago and St Leonard’s has always had a place in my heart for what they do for those passing on and their families.”

“I believe it is important to remember no one is around forever and we will all lose people, and opportunities like this are important to come together and grieve in unison whilst raising money for a charity that creates a loving environment at such an emotional time for all involved. So please come down and join us at this event for a fantastic cause!”

Sarah Atkinson, Events and Community Manager at St Leonard’s Hospice, said:

“We’re grateful to the team at Carefound Home Care in York for organising this fantastic day in aid of St Leonard’s at the Cottage Inn, Haxby. Why not pop in and enjoy the atmosphere and music, and you could even go home with an amazing tombola prize!”

“The Hospice relies on the generosity of the public to continue delivering excellent care to patients, their families, and loved ones, so please do get involved in this great event and help us care for more people who are living with life-limiting illnesses.”
