VE Day tea dance raises over £300 for Rushcliffe dementia charity
Wednesday, 21st May 2025
Carefound Home Care hosted over 80 people for a VE Day 80th Anniversary tea dance at Lutterell Hall in West Bridgford in aid of Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN).

The event marked 80 years since the end of the Second World War and provided an opportunity for the local community to come together in commemoration. Guests enjoyed live entertainment from the Lily Belles, a VE Day-themed quiz, a raffle, and traditional afternoon tea with homemade cakes.

Shelley Taylor, Recruitment & Community Manager at Carefound Home Care West Bridgford, said:
“We were immensely proud to host the VE Day 80th Anniversary tea dance. It was a truly moving day, remembering the sacrifices of so many that gave so much to our country during the Second World War.”
“The turnout was fantastic, and the atmosphere was amazing with lots of singing and dancing along to the brilliant Lily Belles. There was lots of enthusiastic flag waving and guests loved their patriotic Union Jack bowler hats.”
“A massive thank you to the local businesses who supported our raffle, as well as our fabulous RDAN helpers who baked cakes, contributed raffle prizes, and helped on the day.”
Local businesses who supported the event included Waterstones, Boots, Inspirations, Hair Scene, KH Hair, Portello Lounge, Dougnotts and Tropical. Thanks to their support and people who attended, £316.00 was raised for Rushcliffe Dementia Action Network (RDAN), which works to improve the lives of people living with dementia in the local area.
Gwynneth Owen, Trustee at RDAN, said:
“The VE Celebration Day was indeed a celebration, not only recognising a momentous day in history but also celebrating that life can be lived well with dementia.”
“The afternoon of music, dancing and chatting over cups of tea and cake, was so joyful. And of course, as a network, we are delighted that so much money was raised.”
“We’re very grateful for all the hard work and generosity from the Carefound Home Care West Bridgford team and RDAN volunteers at making this such a success.”
“Receiving the funds will help us continue the important work of running some of our projects across Rushcliffe and supporting people to live well with dementia.”
