York care professional receives award for outstanding vigilance
Wednesday, 01st July 2026
York care professional Petra Thomas has won Carefound Home Care’s PLATO award after demonstrating outstanding vigilance with her client.

Petra received the award in recognition of her outstanding vigilance and person-centred approach to supporting her client at home.
After recognising a significant change in her client’s condition, Petra acted quickly and raised concerns with her care management team. She then continued to monitor the situation closely and escalated the matter with health professionals when she felt further medical attention was needed.
Her actions were critical in identifying serious underlying health conditions, and ensuring her client received appropriate hospital treatment and support quickly.
The PLATO award, won by York care professional Petra, involves staff from the wider Carefound Home Care company voting on the best examples of colleagues demonstrating their company values – Personalised, Local, Accountable, Together and Outstanding. The winner receives public recognition, flowers and £100 in gift vouchers.
Lorna Miles, Registered Branch Manager at Carefound Home Care York, said:
“I couldn’t be prouder of this well-deserved recognition for Petra.”
“Her compassion, professionalism and confidence in trusting her instincts made a real difference when her client needed support the most.”
“Petra consistently goes above and beyond, and this award reflects the exceptional care she provides every day.”
