Nottinghamshire woman raises a glass to celebrate 100th birthday
Monday, 18th May 2026
Phyl Chaplin marked her century still living at home with a birthday card from The King and Queen.

Phyl, who still lives in her own home in Wysall with support from Carefound Home Care, recently celebrated her 100th birthday with a party surrounded by family.
To mark the occasion, members of her care team from Carefound Home Care also visited her with flowers and a card to wish her a very happy birthday.
Born in Nottingham in 1926, Phyl has lived in Nottinghamshire all her life. She has one daughter, Anne, one son, Simon, and three grandchildren, and was happily married to her husband, Ray, for 50 years.
Phyl worked as a PA before becoming a school secretary, a role in which her family say she “secretly ran the whole school”. She has always enjoyed an active life, from playing tennis and bowls in West Bridgford to supporting Nottingham Forest and reading Jane Austen.

Jade Farnsworth, Registered Branch Manager at Carefound Home Care West Bridgford, said:
“Phyl’s 100th birthday was a special moment for her and her family, and we were honoured to be able to celebrate this milestone with her.”
“As a provider of home care in Nottinghamshire, it is a true privilege to support a client who has reached the grand age of 100 to remain in the comfort of their own home, surrounded by the things and people they love.”
