Supporting East Cheshire NHS Charity at the Macclesfield Running Festival

On a beautiful crisp October morning, Sarah from our Wilmslow branch took to the country roads of Cheshire to complete the Macclesfield Running Festival 10K race. Hosted by Macclesfield Harriers, the race took her through Prestbury, Alderley Edge and Macclesfield, with participants running in support of East Cheshire NHS Charity.

So far, Sarah has raised £100 which will go towards the development of a dementia friendly garden at Macclesfield District General Hospital, providing a therapeutic space and safe social environment for patients.

Commenting on the event, Sarah Vickers said:

“It was a lovely sunny morning for the Macclesfield Running Festival and over 500 people took part as we made our away across the Cheshire countryside.”

“Everyone was really encouraging of each other which helped. There was quite a lot of hill running which is something I am not used to, but I kept going and managed to complete the race in 1 hour 10 minutes.”

“It feels great to know that I am helping to raise money towards the dementia friendly garden they want to build at Macclesfield District General Hospital. Our clients at Carefound Home Care use the hospital when they have appointments, so it means more to know they will have a safe space to relax in should they need it.”
