Wilmslow Dementia Friends Information Session – 21st May 2018

Wednesday, 09th May 2018

Wednesday, 9th May 2018

Local Dementia Friends Champion, Amie Blott, is to run a free one-hour information session in Wilmslow where members of the public are invited to become ‘Dementia Friends’ as part of Dementia Action Week.

There are currently 850,000 people living with dementia in England and one person develops dementia every three minutes in the UK. Yet too many people living with dementia face the condition alone and are excluded from society.

Dementia Awareness Week is Alzheimer’s Society’s annual awareness raising campaign. This year the Week is changing to ‘Dementia Action Week’ and will take place between 21st and 27th May 2018 when the charity will be asking everyone to take actions big and small to improve the lives of people affected by dementia.

Amie Blott, who works for local home care provider Carefound Home Care, volunteered to be a Dementia Friends Champion earlier this year and attended a training course on how to deliver these sessions. She will be delivering a Dementia Friends Session in Wilmslow open to the public as part of Dementia Action Week:
