The event, named Kick4Alzheimer’s, saw a friendly but competitive game between a team of care professionals and Macclesfield Ladies First Team, held on Sunday, 20th July at the Leasing.com Stadium in Macclesfield.

Around 100 people attended the match, including supporters from the local community and Carefound Home Care clients and their families. The Deputy Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr James Barber-Chadwick, was also in attendance to show his support.

Alongside the football, guests enjoyed food, drinks, and a fantastic raffle with prizes generously donated by The Rex Wilmslow, Hickory’s Smokehouse, Champneys, Avro Golf Club, Storm Brewing, Macclesfield FC and Lancashire Cricket Club.

Tickets were available by donating a minimum of £5 to Alzheimer’s Society and so far over £1,000 has been raised on Carefound Home Care’s JustGiving page.

The event followed on from last year’s successful Kick4Parkinson’s match and continues Carefound Home Care’s commitment to supporting charities linked to the health and well-being of older people.

Sarah Vickers, Recruitment & Community Manager at Carefound Home Care Wilmslow, said:

“This was another brilliant football event, raising a generous amount for Alzheimer’s Society. It was also great to get to play against Macclesfield Ladies, who created a fun and welcoming atmosphere for the match.”

“A heartfelt thank you to everybody who donated and to those who contributed raffle prizes, your support made a real difference.”

Jess Mackenzie, Regional Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Cheshire, said:

“We are so grateful that Sarah has raised the money that she has at her Kick4Alzheimer’s event for us. Each hour people generously give to fundraise for us, every event they take part in, every pound they donate, they’re making a life-changing difference to people living with dementia.”

“Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to people living with dementia, funds groundbreaking research and campaigns to make dementia the priority it should be. Together, we will end the devastation caused by dementia. There are around a million people living with dementia in the UK. But we simply can’t reach everyone without the continued support of our incredible fundraisers like Sarah.”
